Honeypaw found her leader and mentor sitting and talking casually on a little green hill. She looked up at them as she sat down. Her breathing was coming in little gasps from running. "Where are we now, Phoenixstar? I smell something really weird... Is it another Clan?" Honeypaw asked, looking up for an answer. "Yes! I can't believe you could smell that from such a long distance away! That is ShadowClan territory on the other side of these hills. These hills are called the Green Mountains. The border is right there," Phoenixstar meowed, quite impressed that Honeypaw could scent ShadowClan already. "and never go up there. That is the High Cliff. You may fall and we can't risk that. Now, let's move on. There is nothing really left to see here." Then Phoenixstar whisked away again, away from the beauty of the Green Mountains into the Open Moors. Once again, Honeypaw sniffed the air. "Why do th..they always have to pe..pelt off like that! C..can't they wait for us?" she asked Lunarpaw, getting annoyed that she kept stuttering.

Lunarpaw followed Honeypaw as she ran and they finally found their mentors sitting and talking casually on a little green hill. I wonder what is the name of this beautiful green hill, Lunarpaw asked himself. Maybe when he grew up, he could take a patrol here to patrol the border. "Where are we now, Phoenixstar? I smell something really weird... Is it another Clan?" that was Honeypaw's question and Lunarpaw smelt an unfamiliar dirty smell. He look down from the hill and saw an unknown territory. Lunarpaw was proud that Honeypaw had such a brilliant scent. "Yes! I can't believe you could smell that from such a long distance away! That is ShadowClan territory on the other side of these hills. These hills are called the Green Mountains. The border is right there," that was a compliment from Phoenixstar, Honeypaw's mentor and the black and white kit couldn't help but feel happy for his friend. "And never go up there. That is the High Cliff. You may fall and we can't risk that. Now, let's move on. There is nothing really left to see here." Phoenixstar continued and Lunarpaw tried desperately to remember what he had learnt moments ago. Then, the WindClan leader whisked away again, away from the beauty of the Green Mountains into the Open Moors. "I don't know too, Hon... Honeypaw. Maybe they want to test our... our skills in tracking them..." Lunarpaw meowed, voice mixed with nervousness.

"I hope! 'Cause it's really starting to annoy me!" the grayish-blue apprentice meowed back to her friend. She sniffed again. There's his scent! I thought I lost it for a second. Yipee!she thought, as she led the way through the thicket that the leader and deputy had just leaped through moments before. She looked over at Lunarpaw. "Is something wrong, Lunarpaw? You seem weird lately. You know... you can tell me anything..." Honeypaw meowed flirtatiosly to her friend. She only said it flirtatiosly because she wanted to know what was wrong. She wanted to coax it out of him, and not put Lunarpaw in a hard spot to get out of. Then she stopped, and Lunarpaw kept going without knowing she did. "Lunarpaw? What's wrong?

"Me too," Lunarpaw muttered, hoping that their mentors will not run away from them again. "It's so annoying!" Lunarpaw said in a loud tone although he wasn't that angry. Once his eyes met Honeypaw's, Lunarpaw regretted what he said moments ago. "Is something wrong, Lunarpaw? You seem weird lately. You know... you can tell me anything..." Honeypaw’s words were full with concern and Lunarpaw wondered whether should he tell the truth of hide it from her. "Lunarpaw? What's wrong?” she asked again and this time, Lunarpaw made up his mind. “Actually, something is bothering me,” the black and white apprentice focused on the “is”. “But if I tell you that,” he continued, feeling his little heart thumping faster and faster, “will you be mad at me?” I hope you won’t be mad... because... because... I love you… he thought.

Honeypaw waited for her friend's reply. He looked deeply worried about something, something important that he wanted to tell her, but couldn't get the courage to say. Honeypaw looked up at Lunarpaw, expecting him to say he had a bad piece of fresh-kill or something like that. Honeypaw listened to his reply and said, "Of course I will not be mad, silly! We're bestest friends forever! I would never be mad at you!" Wind made her friend's pelt ripple, and he looked at her with wide eyes. Something is really wrong with him. He is never this sad! she thought, horrified that something was terribly wrong, and she had just missed the memo. "Why would you think I would be mad? It can't be that bad! You would have told me sooner if it was that bad!"she mewed with extra emphasis on the "thats".

After Honeypaw's reassuring that she won't be mad, Lunarpaw brought up all his courage to confess to the blue-gray apprentice. Still, he braced himself if Honeypaw would suddenly yell at him. "Well, I have a strange feeling towards you and I am not not sure what feeling is that. Whenever you are near me, I'll get nervous and excited at the same time. Maybe I'm... I'm in love with you, dear Honeypaw. We've been friends for so long and I didn't know that this would happen, forgive me, Honeypaw!" Lunarpaw blurted everything on his mind out. At that moment, he felt light as though as all his worries have vanished into thin air.

"What! You love me? We're only kits practically! I like you too, but as a friend. Understand? I'm sorry, Lunarpaw. It's just not gonna work right now, ok?" With that, Honeypaw raced off into the thicket, following Hawkfeather and Phoenixstar into the open moors. Honeypaw really did feel sorry for her friend. She didn't know that his emotions for her are that strong. She just thought he stammered to be funny or something. Thinking things over in her head, she pelted onto the open moors. She saw Phoenixstar sitting and waiting for them. Hawkfeather was loyally sitting next to him. "Where is Luarpaw? I thought you were together? What happened to him? Is he alright?" Phoenixstar asked, almost worried, despite his calm nature. Honeypaw could tell that he was nervous because his paw was twitching.

The black and white kit was too shocked for words once he heard Honeypaw's reply. He too, knew that he may have been too harsh on Honeypaw, talking to her like that and he was determined to set things right. He bounded over to where his mentor and deputy were sitting and explained to his mentor, "Sorry to worry you, Phoenixstar. I kinda got left out." Then, the desperate apprentice approached Honeypaw, careful enough not to let his pelt brush against hers or she'll get even angrier. "Look, Honeypaw," Lunarpaw could feel that he wasn't so shaky in front of Honeypaw after all. "I'm sorry for the confessing just now and I know we're barely kits so can you promise me something?" His sapphire orbs swifted from Honeypaw to Phoenixstar, then from Phoenixstar to Hawkfeather and finally, from Hawkfeather to his friend, Honeypaw. "Can you promise me that we'll be mates once we grow up? Can you promise me that you'll never fall for another cat? It is because I don't want to lose you so please... understand"

Honeypaw blinked slowly, looking up at Lunarpaw while the wind ruffled her skin. " I can't promise that, Lunarpaw. i am sorry." Honeypaw whispered as she started walking and followed Phoenixstar. They seemed to be heading back to camp. It had been a long day of trudging around the moors, and Honeypaw was tired. She practically limped her way back into the camp. Phoneixstar turned around slowly, his black and white pelt gleaming with clenliness. "Now, there will be a dawn patrol going out tomorrow, and both of you are going to be on it." Then he turned to Hawkfeather, his trusted deputy. "Hawkfeather, I would also like you to be on that patrol, and make sure that both of these apprentices are up and ready tomorrow." Phoenixstar turned back and walked into the camp without another glance at Lunarpaw and Honeypaw. Honeypaw sensed somthing wrong with her leader, and felt his pelt bristle with curiosity when he left. Had he overheard Honeypaw and Lunarpaw's conversation? Honeypaw shuddered as she limped back into the shelter of the WindClan camp.
